Why our wines are in boxes?
There are compelling reasons to transition certain wines into boxed packaging. Primarily, this shift offers advantages in terms of preservation, with boxed wine lasting for weeks in the fridge once opened. Additionally, boxed packaging saves on storage space compared to bulky glass bottles, as the cushioning required for bottles adds to the space needed. Moreover, boxed wine is more portable, with a full 5L bag-in-box weighing 5.17 kg, whereas the equivalent volume in bottles weighs almost 7 kg. Most significantly, this transition contributes to environmental sustainability, as glass bottles entail heavy energy consumption for melting and moulding. Switching to a 5L wine bag-in-box results in an 84% reduction in carbon footprint compared to using four glass bottles for the same volume of wine.
